Hardik Pandya, Shubman Gill and Mayank Yadav are dropped from Harbhajan Singh’s T20 World Cup squad

The IPL 2024 is currently at a highly intriguing stage, but all eyes are on the upcoming T20 World Cup. Making its debut in the USA and returning to the West Indies for the first time since 2010, this ICC event promises to be a grand cricketing spectacle. For Team India, it also offers a chance to end their long wait for a trophy. Despite numerous opportunities and entering previous tournaments as favourites, it has been 11 years since India last lifted an ICC trophy, including the World Cup.

Whether the wait will end in 2024 depends on India making sure it does plenty of things right, starting with the squad selection. A deadline of May 1 for the boards to reveal their final 15 is approaching; therefore, the entire picture will be revealed over the next six days. There is a palpable sense of excitement as the date approaches, and former cricketers are picking their own 15-man India squad to give a glimpse of what awaits.

The Mumbai Indians captain isn’t a favourite of many. In addition to being excluded from Ambati Rayudu’s and Irfan Pathan’s T20 World Cup squads, as well as Virender Sehwag’s T20 World Cup Playing XI, Hardik has also failed to get a place in Harbhajan Singh’s squad. To settle the debate between an allrounder and a finisher, the former India spinner selected Shivam Dube at No. 7 and Rinku Singh at No.6
